Can a spouse get paid to be a caregiver in Indiana?

Short answer

Yes

Yes, through Structured Family Caregiving (not Attendant Care). FSSA says waiver recipients whose spouse will provide SFC can work with their care manager at any time to add it to the service plan (FSSA SFC FAQ).

Programs to ask about in Indiana

1

Structured Family Caregiving (SFC)

Waiver service in the Health and Wellness, PathWays for Aging and TBI waivers (the Aged & Disabled Waiver was split into PathWays and Health and Wellness). It pays a daily rate for days a family caregiver delivers care under an approved plan; the care manager assigns a needs-based level.

2

Attendant Care

Waiver attendant care service. SFC can't be paid in the same calendar month as Attendant Care.

How to apply

Ask your waiver care manager about SFC.

Before you act: rules change and individual eligibility depends on your assessment. Confirm with the program. This page summarizes official sources and does not promise eligibility or pay.
